Construction Week Trade Show Finds!

Hello everyone – Happy New Year!!!
Is it just me or is the time flying by? Earlier this month, I and a few colleagues went to Las Vegas for the yearly Design and Construction Week Trade Shows. No, we didn’t gamble but spent our days wandering the Halls of the Convention Center and Las Vegas Furniture Mart and our evenings being wined and dined by various vendors. Lots of fun but not nearly enough time to see everything. See some of our favorites below!

DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION WEEK

This year’s Trade Show combined so many events- IBS (International Builders show), KBIS (Kitchen & Bath Show), TISE (The International Surfaces Event) and the Las Vegas Winter Market, we just couldn’t see everything. I want to share some of my favorite finds showcased by 2 of the venues we had time to see, including the IBS & KBIS. The 2nd Quarter Newsletter will highlight furniture, wall treatments and accessories from the Winter Las Vegas Market.

Color Trends

This year is all about color. From appliances and cabinets to plumbing fixtures & faucets ranging from bold, earthy tones to pastels manufacturers are going all out to make a statement! Kohlers booth featured toilets in various colors not seen since the 50’s and 60’s- I’m still not sure what I think about some of those colors but could be a fun change in the right application! Green was one of the more popular colors but not the only one. I loved all the jewel tones- after being locked indoors for so long during Covid, it’s all about getting out, expressing yourself and what makes you happy so bring it on!!!

Appliances

For appliances, there was an abundance of finish choices and colors, and manufacturers came out with so many options. White appliances in a matte finish were displayed in many booths. Bertazzoni, an Italian manufacturer showcased their gas range in a matte graphite finish, “Carbonio”.
The True Residential booth did not disappoint- so many new items to view. Known for their Column refrigeration units, they have a large selection to choose from and also offer outdoor appliances which can be customized for any project. They introduced their newest finish “Bluestone”, which has a warm blue- gray matte finish. Yes, matte finishes are all the rage!

Signature Appliances displayed a gas range that offered a 36″ Dual-Fuel Pro Range with Steam/Combi Oven and Sous Vide cooking options along with individual timers for each knob. Now that’s we’re talking about. It’s not inexpensive but you really get a lot for your investment!!!

Cabinetry & Organization

When it comes to cabinetry, white is still a popular option as seen in the all-white kitchen vignette here, but the introduction of jewel and pastel tones and textured earthy tone wood cabinets as seen at many of the vendor booths were a welcome addition. Fluted wood cabinets are gaining popularity and seen not just in cabinetry but also used as wall treatments and on furniture. It’s so exciting- all the options available in today’s market and the ability to create your personal oasis to reflect your tastes and lifestyles.

Love that vendors keep coming up with more and more options when it comes to offering storage and organization to your cabinetry. For kitchens, pullouts and corner units provide more accessibility and organization. One installation I thought genius- a “touch” shelf pullout in an appliance garage storing a coffee pot and other small appliances.

In bathrooms, especially those with limited storage space, these 2 freestanding cabinets offer storage solutions that actually provide more storage. Love the idea of having a heat-proof holder for hair drying and styling appliances. The vanity drawers have plumbing cutouts and offer storage that is flexible, offering storage options that best suit your needs!

Plumbing Fixtures & Faucets

Kohler offers a variety of products and color options. One of the most popular exhibits was their “Stillness” soaking tub which takes its cues from the Japanese onsen, that produces a hot water vapor drawn from the surrounding mineral springs. Talk about Luxury and creating a totally Zen experience!!!

Vessel sinks are still being offered- I love the shell inspired glass and ceramic sinks seen below. We also saw Farmhouse kitchen sinks and bathroom vessel sinks with exterior metal options.

Brizo SensoriPlus™ Digital Thermostatic Custom Shower: This shower system includes multiple presets to control temperature, flow, duration and optional audiotherapy and chromatherapy spa options. Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connect to virtual home assistants to control your shower with voice activation.
And finally, a shower mirror from Clear Mirror that does it all- no fog with LED lighting options for all you guys who shave in the shower – this one’s for you!
