CREATING CASA

Casafina Interior Design
crafts spaces that are quintessentially home.

The firm name captures Monica Olson perfectly: a creative with a proud heritage and a deep passion for creating homes that invite fine living. Founder and creative director of Casafina Interior Design, Olson sees her projects as opportunities to transform houses into aesthetically pleasing, functional homes and to form collaborative relationships with the ones that will live in them.

“Part of what gives me the most joy is that I make clients feel comfortable throughout the process so they trust me to steer them in the right direction,” Olson shares. A full-service firm, Casafina Interior Design helps clients from paint selection through final installation. While wholehome renovations are common, it’s Olson’s talent for designing stunning kitchens and bathrooms that has garnered accolades from peers and clients alike.

“It’s a two-pronged approach,” she says of kitchen and bath designs. “I work to give clients the look they want with the functionality they need.” An in-depth discovery conversation allows Olson to understand the nuances of her clients’ lifestyles to design the most practical spaces possible while achieving the desired style to suit their tastes.

From light and airy culinary hotspots to warm and relaxing spa-like sanctuaries, her work breathes modern living while reflecting the individuality of its owners. On a recent project, after understanding her client’s need for a calm and relaxing space, Olson determined a Zen retreat with earthy tones, organic materials, and a sculpted, wave-like accent wall—would create the atmosphere she needed. The client’s itch to do something different, Olson notes, was the inspiration behind the little oasis.

“I love being creative and designing something new,” she concludes. “For me, this doesn’t feel like work. It’s just fun.”

With a floating wood vanity and matching storage, the bathroom’s warm aesthetic offers a contemporary yet timeless feel. A diamond accent wall adds texture to a neutral bedroom. Details like a symmetrical gallery wall hanging above a rustic console table make a living room feel like home. Designer Monica Olson.
