It was a pleasure to work with Monica. Prior to working with Monica, we interviewed three other designers. When we first meet her we “clicked”. My husband and I have no design sense but wanted to make our new house’s interior design much more elegant than we have done in the past. We were also a challenge in that we have no clue as to what we wanted, liked or examples of inspiration. Monica was patient with us and came up with great ideas to turn our remodel into a warm an inviting space. We are looking to doing more work with Monica in the future!!
I have used Casafina Interior Design a few times and am always pleased with the results. Ms. Olson is knowledgeable about design, colors and met my budget. I was very pleased with the coordination and quality of work she provided.
I loved working with Monica! I needed to badly update my living/dining large open room. I knew I needed to paint and wanted to replace the carpet with wood flooring. What would work with my current furniture and what should be replaced. I am such a creature of habit that I needed someone to help me think “out of my old box”. I also needed help with contractors and coordinating the work. Monica ended up being the perfect person for me. We took things one step at a time and was so helpful with ideas to update the whole look of the room. I would highly recommend her to anyone needing help to “think out of an old box”.
Our company hired Monica to do all the interior & exterior design work on a mid-century, architecturally significant home in La Mirada. We bought the home to rehab it back to its original designed function, but with all of today’s modern materials and conveniences, with the intention to flip it. We gutted the interior of the house and followed Monica’s re-design for the extremely large kitchen and both bathrooms, all of which turned out beautiful. The pictures speak for themselves. Every potential buyer, as well as all the neighbors, commented to our realtor on how beautiful the design work was. We received multiple offers and sold it above its appraised value. The buyers told us that one of their major reasons in purchasing the home was the kitchen design. We are planning on doing many more “flips” and will be hiring Monica to assist on all of them.
Monica helped transform my kitchen to the most beautiful working space. There were many challenges in my very dated Spanish style home including windows, soffits and lighting. I could not be more pleased with all the work she did and her vast knowledge of workers and companies to help me choose. She walked me through the entire design including cabinets, colors and appliance selection. Plus, I really appreciate how she integrated my wishes into the plan. She was always there though out the entire construction. She is highly recommended, and I will definitely use her again.
I cannot recommend Monica Olson and her Interior Design services highly enough–there simply aren’t words! In December of 2018, as a reaction to yet another water leak and whole house re-pipe, my husband and I made the decision to begin a major remodel of our home including the kitchen, 2 bathrooms, family room built-in/fireplace, downstairs floors, staircase and upstairs hall. Feeling overwhelmed due to urgency and size of the project, I knew I needed an interior designer to help me prioritize projects and offer wisdom and guidance in making cohesive design/style choices. I met Monica through the contractor I ended up hiring, and she played a major in that decision. They came together to our initial consultation, and Monica and I hit it off immediately. Her warm, outgoing personality and professional confidence instantly reassured me and set my mind at ease. I knew she was exactly what I needed and hiring her was the single best and most important decision I made on this project. She listened, asked questions, and paid attention to pictures and opinions I gave. She picked up my aesthetic quickly and immediately began guiding me through the decision making process, all the while honoring my desires while offering professional and personal insight/ wisdom as needed to enrich the result. About a month and a half in, things took an unexpected and tragic turn. My contractor died unexpectedly in his sleep. He was a sole proprietor, but his widow and foreman assured me they would finish the project. Unfortunately, it soon became obvious this was not going to be pleasant or easy. Monica was my saving grace! She promised to support and guide me through the chaos and stay with me until everything was completed, and wow, did she ever do that! There is not enough time or space to explain how incredibly far above and beyond she went to help. She tried to be a go-between for me and the contractor’s widow and foreman; She worked with me manage the subcontractors and the timing of everything underway; she supported and guided me when money stopped flowing and started disappearing; she helped me gather information on how to file against the bond in an attempt to get money restored; she helped me find new subcontractors to finish work left undone; and so on and so forth. She provided support in every imaginable way she could, helping us navigate through the nightmare that ensued following the death. Now, almost 3 months later, I’m happy to say I am sitting in a home, that’s been put back together again, with a new kitchen, bathrooms, fireplace/built in, floor, staircase and upstairs hall that I love. I’ll never be able to adequately thank Monica for all she’s done. Without hesitation, I can say she will be my go-to Interior Designer for all our future home projects, and a friend I’ll continue to enjoy for many, many years to come!!!
Monica helped us to plan our kitchen and downstairs remodel. Our kitchen redesign was challenging because of the unusual layout and angles of the original. As it was a town home, we had some limitations of what was feasible. She worked very hard to incorporate my must haves into a design that is both functional and pleasing to the eye. She is extremely easy to work with and was able to translate our vision into reality. She made excellent tactful suggestions to steer us in the right direction. She worked well with our contractor. She was able to assess our personal style and assist us with color choices that made sense and will not become dated. She responds quickly to email and is very accessible. I really enjoyed working with her because I don’t always have the patience needed to sort out the decision points on a project this size, so she was able to make the process more manageable.
We were very pleased to work with Monica who assisted us in upgrading our den and bathroom. Her sense of design, knowledge of products, and contact with craftsmen served us well. She was always professional, and we especially appreciated her follow up calls to assure that all went smoothly. We couldn’t recommend Casafina Interior Design more, without reservation.

Monica consulted with me in connection with paint color options for my existing oak kitchen cabinets, options for new flooring (hardwood vs. luxury vinyl plank) and bathroom vanity styles, wall color and accessories. The Dunn Edwards paint she suggested is a great quality paint and the color blended wonderfully with my existing granite countertops. Monica’s recommendations were appreciated and in line with the modern and fresh look I desired.
Casafina Interior Design just completed a full kitchen renovation of our 30 year old kitchen. The project was a challenge due to the available space. Casafina Interior Design took on the challenge, our kitchen was designed with high quality materials and with our lifestyle in mind. Monica was professional and client oriented; she coordinated her design with a wonderful contractor, Fisher Construction which resulted is a beautiful outcome; the project was completed beautifully and timely. Monica was great to work with. She helped me create my dream spa master bath and our kid’s bathroom as well. Monica had great ideas and is great with colors and helping pick out tile and accents. I have a hard time making any decisions. It all turned out beautiful and I am grateful she was here to help make it perfect!
Scope included design and construction, including selection of fixtures and furniture for 3 bathrooms, bedroom, moving walls, replacing stairs, family room, fireplace & upgrade of kitchen. Color and paint / subcontractors. She’s very knowledgeable and creative, worked to understand our vision and desired “look”. Always professional and works well with all disciplines and her clients. She has great contacts for all needed services. Timeline and budget changes were based on mutual understanding and so no surprises. I highly recommend Monica and am willing to answer personal questions and verbal endorsement.

First of all I am not the type of person who hires an interior decorator… That was for someone who has a lot of money and a huge house. But I had moved into a new house and every room was painted white and I had no idea where to begin. I didn’t have a big budget (actually, no budget at all!) I met Monica and felt so comfortable with her, she understood my budget limitations and gave me great optional ideas and even some DIY ideas. Monica helped me choose neutral paint colors since I like to change up my décor often. She also helped me figure out how to use the furniture I already had and incorporate new pieces. I had a great experience and will definitely use her again.
Monica redesigned our master suite and laundry room. She had great ideas and was incredibly patient with me throughout the entire process (from design right through to completion of the work). She frequented the site to ensure everything looked ok and made changes if something didn’t look quite right (or I changed my mind). I really enjoyed working with her and would definitely recommend her to people like me who are new to renovations (or even people that have done it before, but just want to be sure they are working with someone who is creative and does quality work)
We hired Monica as our designer for a whole house remodel including kitchen, bathrooms, flooring, windows, doors and an addition to our dining room and bonus room. Our experience with her was amazing! A project of this size was at times overwhelming with so many details, but Monica was always there to keep us calm, focused and on plan. We had weekly meetings, yet, she was always available by phone or text. Monica has excellent taste and has creative solutions to somewhat difficult issues that inevitably arise over time. She is professional, knowledgeable and courteous. Also, she helped to keep us within budget, pointing out where we should invest a little more- wainscot and wallpaper in the formal dining room, hand-scraped walnut floors throughout versus many other occasions when it was not necessary. In the end, we have an absolutely beautiful home that we love and we could not have done it without her! Thank you, Monica!
Monica Olson provided superb and professional services in helping us with the design and remodel of our Master and Guest bathrooms in 2011 and our kitchen in 2010. She was patient in educating us about the numerous details involved in developing the design and helped us select materials so we could stay within our budget. During the remodel she visited the worksite frequently, answered our numerous questions and helped us deal with the emotional aspects of remodeling. Every day as I use my Kitchen, I thank Monica for making it so functional as well as beautiful. Same goes for the bathrooms, especially the MBR shower. We look forward to working with her again.
